What is a "Brazilian Bikini Wax"?

A Brazilian bikini wax is a hair removal process that removes hair from the entire pubic region - basically, from your belly button to the top of your butt.  Beth Anne of In the Pink Skin Care is a licensed aesthetician with 14 years of experience and is well trained for this type of delicate waxing. She will give you the option to leave a small strip of hair in the front, or remove it entirely.
Brazilian waxes are becoming more and more popular for all ages and for many reasons from hygiene to aesthetic appeal. Vacations and summer time, with skimpy bathing suits, weddings or anniversaries are the most common reasons for a Brazilian wax. Many clients at In The Pink have been waxing for years and consider it  just as routine as getting your hair cut/colored or having a mani/pedi! A Brazilian bikini wax gives a clean, long lasting smoothness with the freedom from daily shaving. The irritation and ingrown hairs from shaving are a thing of the past!

Waxing, in general, is preferred over shaving because it doesn't grow back as stubbly or coarse. The hair grows back thinner and softer and done routinely, many clients experience a permanent reduction of regrowth of up to 30%! Many consider Brazilian waxing hygienic because with the hair gone there is nothing to absorb sweat or odor.

What type of wax is used for a "Brazilian Bikini Wax"?

In The Pink uses Satin Smooth Wax.
The advantages of Satin Smooth are:
•          Satin Smooth offers 8 different types of wax, targeting individual skin and hair types for a personalized experience.
•          Satin Smooth is a low temperature wax and will not burn the skin
•          Satin Smooth reduces your service time by 50%.
•          Satin Smooth is antibacterial/antimicrobial.
•          Satin Smooth completely clears the hair follicle including the bulb, shaft and papilla, unlike any other hair removal product on the market

What is the Brazilian wax process?
•          A minimum of 2 weeks growth from shaving is required. Hair longer than an inch will need to be trimmed to about 1/2 inch using scissors. Don't use clippers! It's too easy to cut the hair too short, and you don't want stubble. Exfoliate for 3 consecutive days before your appointment.
•          We advise you to apply a numbing cream 30-45 min. before your appointment.  We offer No Scream Cream for purchase beforehand.  Also, a pre-treatment of 1-2 Advil can be effective or perhaps a shot of tequila.......
•          When you arrive, you will remove your pants and panties. We prefer not to use disposable panties for a Brazilian because they tend to just get in the way of what needs to be done! Beth Anne will glove up and you are ready to roll!
•          A pre-wax lotion is applied to prepare your skin.
•          A very thin layer of wax is gently applied onto the hair to be removed.
•          As with a regular bikini wax, non-woven strips are placed over the wax and pulled away from the skin.  The hair is removed completely from that area and the procedure continues until all desired hair is removed.
•          Stray hairs may be tweezed and a post-wax lotion applied to the newly waxed area to sooth any irritation. The entire experience takes 15 minutes max!

Brazilian "Do's & Dont's"
•          Do try to relax! If you've never waxed before you may be a little nervous! Almost all women say it is less painful then they imagined.  It does sting a bit, but it's fleeting pain and stops as soon as the strip is removed. Plus, Beth Anne is so fast and professional, you will be out of there in no time!
   •          Do take Tums or an antacid if your diet is rich in caffeine or citric fruits to reduce potential sensitivities during the service.
   •          Do consult Mother Nature before booking your first waxing appointment.  Don't attempt waxing 1-2 days prior to your period. You skin is much more sensitive at that time. Schedule your initial waxing appointment after your period, when you are less sensitive to discomfort.
   •          Do re-book you appointments at the end of your wax and plan to return every three to four weeks. It's better to have that appointment scheduled than wait until the last minute! Beth Anne is in demand, and you won't want to lose her to scheduling conflicts.
   •          Do NOT shave between waxing appointments. This makes the hair more resistant to future waxing and defeats the purpose which is softer, thinner hair. Do exfoliate a minimum of 3 times per week to prevent ingrown hairs.
   •          Do be prepared to LOVE IT! A Brazilian Bikini Wax will leave you feeling smoother, sleeker and sexier! Promise!
